Olio is an outdoor dining venue located within Paradisus Playa del Carmen. Wood 4 U was selected to execute the architectural carpentry and construction scope required to transform the space into a hospitality environment aligned with the resort's luxury standards.

Natural materials and precise craftsmanship — built to the rhythm of a resort that never stopped.

Scope of Work

What Was Built

01

Timber Pergola Construction

Structural timber pergola system designed and built to define the outdoor dining environment — providing shade, enclosure and architectural character.

02

Architectural Millwork

Custom millwork elements throughout the venue — fabricated in natural wood and installed to specification across all surfaces and junctions.

03

Palapa Construction

Traditional palapa structure integrated with the architectural scheme, providing natural coverage consistent with the resort's tropical aesthetic.

04

Custom Bar Fabrication

Full bar counter fabricated and installed — combining natural wood elements with hospitality-grade finishes and surface detailing.

05

Ceiling & Wood Lattice Systems

Timber ceiling treatment and wood lattice screens installed to define zones, control light and create atmosphere throughout the dining space.

06

Kitchen Redistribution & Renovation

Kitchen layout reconfigured and renovated to meet the operational requirements of the new restaurant concept — executed as part of the full construction scope.

07

Architectural Carpentry

Comprehensive architectural carpentry throughout the venue — joinery, transitions, surface elements and all built conditions resolved as a unified installation.

The Challenge

Custom Construction Inside an Operating Resort

All work was executed while Paradisus Playa del Carmen remained fully operational. This required strict sequencing around guest areas, coordination with resort management, and a construction approach that maintained hospitality standards throughout the installation period.

Every decision on a live resort site is filtered through one question: does this protect the guest experience?

Wood 4 U — Execution Principle

Execution Approach

Sequenced. Coordinated. Delivered.

The construction scope combined structural work, custom fabrication and architectural finishing within a compressed timeline — all coordinated to meet the resort's operational schedule without disruption to guests or hotel services.

01

Planning & Sequencing

Work phased around hotel operational windows — structural elements first, fit-out and finishing resolved last to minimise guest impact.

02

Custom Fabrication

All timber elements, bar components and lattice systems fabricated to specification before delivery — reducing on-site build time and improving installation quality.

03

On-Site Coordination

Active coordination with resort operations throughout — access control, noise management and daily progress aligned with the hotel schedule.

04

Quality Control

Each installation element reviewed against specification before sign-off — finish, alignment and material condition verified at every stage.

Materials & Craftsmanship

Natural wood. Structural and surface. Inside and out.

Structural Timber

Pergola & Framework

Hardwood timber used for all primary structural elements — pergola posts, beams and framing. Specified for outdoor durability and visual weight.

Natural Lattice

Ceiling & Screens

Timber lattice systems used for ceiling treatment and screen elements — providing filtered light and spatial definition across the venue.

Palapa

Natural Coverage

Traditional palapa materials integrated with the structural scope — providing natural shade consistent with the resort's tropical character.

Finished Wood

Bar & Joinery

All contact surfaces, bar elements and architectural joinery finished to hospitality grade — durable, consistent and aligned with the Paradisus aesthetic.

Every material specification at Olio was resolved for both appearance and outdoor performance — heat, humidity and sustained use under resort conditions.
